MIscellaneous
Quiet here today. I'm thinking that just about every one of the MSAE's members are frantically trying to clear off their desks so that they can relax and enjoy the four-day thanksgiving holiday. I'm doing the same. Sending out wishes for a wonderful Thanksgiving to all.

Association 201 in action
Association 201 is working so far. Jan Plimpton from Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota provided lots of great information about her organization and folks are sitting in groups focused on one of these four topics: Communications/Advocacy, Training, Revenue generating, and Meeting planning.
MSAE's Association 101 is a comprehensive overview of associations and how they work. Association 201 is geared more toward demonstrating competence in
• Describing how their organization does its work and why they do it that way
• Asking pertinent questions that hone in on the nature and needs of another organization
• Adapting their thinking and way of doing things to fit the needs of a different organization
• Fully participating in and contributing ideas in a small and large group setting so objectives are met on time
• Rolling with the punches when a schedule changes
• Making the case for a solution succinctly and successfully
So, the brainstorming has begun. And Habitat for Humanity of Minnesota has a organizational representative at each table. Their willingness to have their work scrutinized is inspiring. How many of us would be so open to this type of questioning?

Finance
I'm tired of hearing about bail-outs. What about us common folk, who have scrimped, saved and lived within our means? My solution? Instead of bailing out the auto industry, why doesn't the government just give every U.S. citizen a new car? It would cost about the same and I think it would definitely help the economy. Here's to a new car for all!

I did it again
I walked into my office this morning and reached to the right to turn on the lights. Weird, because we've been in our new office space for over one year, and the light switch is on the left. (It was on the right in the old office.) Habit. Habit. Habit. It takes forever to break a habit. In fact I wonder if habits ever go away, or do they lie there dormant waiting for some unknown trigger? That is why I am also wondering (in light of election results) if the bad habits of bickering, name-calling, partisanship, not working together, and fighting with each other can be changed? Because really, hasn't this all become just a bad habit? Could these habits really be changed so that our country, our politicians, and our legislators can come together and work together to find solutions for the very real problems that face us all today? I guess we will just have to wait and see.
