World record
Going for the world record - in changing the association name. We filed with the state in February 2000 - changed from Minnesota to Midwest. Changed the mail, changed the bank, checks, stationary, IRS, paychex. Thought we had it all done. Have found out that one department of the IRS doesn't sync with the part of the IRS that handles the pensions. And that it takes years for discrepancies to come to light. So it took some doing (and a taxpayer advocate) to get it squared away. I got an official response, and once again thought all was well. Wrong. Just realized that the St of MN has the same issue about not syncing with other departments. Even though, we register every year - Unemployment insurance still had us listed as Minnesota. At least that was a quick on line change. I think we're done now . It only took 9 years. Advice: Make a list of everything, everything that must be changed if you are changing your name. Definitely not one stop shopping. And save every piece of documentation relating to the change. Chances are you will need it.
